DIRECTOR'S CUT: In a series of monthly
blogs,
Paul Hobson reflects on current developments in contemporary art:
"In the 1960s and 1970s, artists began
to draw attention to the constructed nature of our identities. Continuing this
line of critique, artists of the current generation are frequently representing
an idea of identity that is not only constructed, but that is unstable, mutable
and inconsistent." (MODERN ART OXFORD, 2015)
Obviously, she is a funny and crazy artist I think. She entirely spreads out her interactive art, which the relationship between real and virtual worlds.
The Breathing Machines,
a series of was casts of artist face and positioned in a perspex box along with a tape recorder playing breathing sound.(ORIGINS OF THE SPECIES PART 2,2015)
Honestly, I am close to this art work and look at it in detail. Thus I am a little bit afraid of playing breathing sound. However, it gives me more creative ideas which inspire me how to organise new media and chaos with works in perfect harmony.
Shortly, the title of the exhibition refers
to the topic which the artist has explored most often – the impact, both
detrimental and otherwise, of technology on our lives and identities.
(Aesthetica Magazine, 2015) Actually, she really attempts to
use unique ways to convey her original thinking.
As to me, all of these works from her truly
enlighten me on my feature career, even though her ideas often show conflicts
between aesthetic and concept. In other words,
I highly appreciate that I can attend to
her fantastic art trip and find ways to lose myself. Finally, it seems to me
that art is motivating and interacting, and even it can reflect on this
society.
